jpg @ brooklyn

i went to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum a few weeks ago. i'm so glad i didn't miss the experience after seeing so many friends go. my favourite part was the way they managed to make all their mannequins look like talking people. (they had blank mannequin faces and used a projector to project a moving/speaking face, so simple but neat!!)
here are a few photos i grabbed:

concrete jungle

Haven't blogged and also don't have a DLSR since I've moved to New York City for school!
Anyways, I've been really busy since class started and pretty much working in the studio (studying fashion design) for hours upon hours with my classmates..

Still got to experience many great things since I got here though! I'd say living in NYC is not as expensive as people say unless you plan to party or eat at a fancy restaurant every night (I believe tips is 20% at night here..). Everything you may want is so easily accessible there. Personally, I love going to japanese restaurants and book stores, which they have many of here. There's also Korea town only a few blocks away. SoHo shopping is one of the greatest things there are!! no taxes on clothing under $100!

I think I tend to take photos whenever I eat.. and almost no other occasion lol! I thought I'll share some of those photos here since I wanna update the blog finally!

A japanese restaurant in Korea Town, this is katsu with kimchi and cheese and curry!

Red mango is definitely my favourite froyo place here!

Kimbap at a small Korea Town in Flushing, Queens. My friend treated me!!

Discovered a macaron specialty store literally a minute away from me! Their macarons are pretty damn tasty, the best I've had before!

Sushi from a restaurant when I went back home for the long weekend actually.

Pinkberry is another good froyo place, still prefer Red Mango tho.. (the cashier misspelt my friend Mutsumi's name as 'MUGSUSI' LOL)

Quick stop at Ajisen Ramen for dinner with a friend I met here who's an exchange student from Bunka College in Japan!! (I really wanna study there for maybe a semester or two, which is not possible..)

Me and my suitemates all have severe ice cream cravings.. so this happened. :)

One night I invited my friend over and made Japanese curry and miso soup!

Overall, I'm slowly adjusting to college life and New york pretty well.. At first I was very homesick! Everything settles down once you've kinda found a place you belong within the school community..? I'm beginning to actually focus on my studies and get into routine here. :)

neutrals

dress XXI / belt zara / clutch topshop / shoes michael kors

It's been a while but I'm finally back from California (which I'll be blogging about later on)!  So lately for some reason I've been obsessed with beiges, taupes, ivory and pale pink for the summer since they're so neutral that they'll basically go with anything I pair them with.  I love the length of this dress and how the bottom is almost like two petals of a flower, definitely need to get some more midis.
The Michael Kors heels I'm wearing in this outfit were such a steal!  I managed to get them just below the border at an Off Saks 5th Avenue outlet for just $20, I was so shocked when I saw the price! Sometimes it's so unfair how much cheaper America is .. :(

white dress and food

dress: asos, shoes: nine west, bracelet and earring: gifts

Another simple outfit because one pieces can easily make an outfit. Usually I pair a top and bottom together but since maxis and one pieces are always in style, I wanted to own a few. Asos is such a great online shopping site. It's from the UK and they offer free international shipping always and carry very trendy items. :) They also have their own marketplace where anyone can sign up and sell or buy vintage clothing!

I didn't get a lot of photos showing the outfit in detail, but recently I tried a nice french restaurant for my birthday dinner and thought I'd share pictures! (food porn time..)

The place was upstairs a commercial building on Bloor street where all the designer stores are at (Toronto's 5th avenue?!). It was really pretty inside with ceilings with glass window designs and fancy tables/chairs.

Creme brulee!! one of my favourite desserts of all time.

Excuse the photos that I took with my shitty old digital camera. ):

ponies

top: french connection / shorts: f21 / shoes: zara

Really simple outfit for summer!
The only store I shop at often in person is probably zara.. It's really hard to find stuff in trend, so I often resort to ordering clothes online.  Also, it's really hard to find sizes for me when I shop in person, so often trips end up in frustration cuz there are nice things that don't fit me.
That's why shopping in the US is always fun because they have stores like Topshop, Anthropologie, Madewell, etc. everywhere! They are usually bigger with more variety too, Canada needs to step it up lol.

Oh yeah, all the photos are taken by Lily in her backyard haha;; but she's having fun in California right now, so jealous!!

houndstooth + floral lace

top: zara / tube top: H&Mshorts: forever21 / belt: zara / shoes: forever 21 / bag: Topshop

Ok thought we should both make one post with outfits first! Just gonna say, I'm the much slower poster ahha.. Our first shoot took place together, it was fun! I'm pretty bad at posing for photos.. It's hard to look natural without someone giving you instructions on what to do.

I'm also such a print whore lately.. The shorts have houndstooth pattern, while my tube top has polka dots and my top has floral and lace! I really love the cut out on the back of the top as well as the standing collar, I'm seeing too many typical oxford collars lately.

the classic black&white

top Forever21, bandeau aerie, leggings tna, heels zara

Wow, my first post, I'm so excited aha ! Well since this is only the beginning, I thought the first outfit I'd post would be something simple and classic which is why I immediately thought of black & white.  I recently got the top from Forever21 and I immediately fell in love with it because of how flowy and easy it looked.  I love wearing light shirts in the summer in order to survive high temperatures !

Love my Zara shoes, they're just so easy to wear with anything ! And I've especially been loving ankle straps these days, they just make everything look so much more elegant, even just a simple pair of black leggings.  Every girl needs a pair of beautiful black heels that they can easily mix and match with anything, since everyone needs a littleblackdress why not have simpleblackheels as well ? :)
